5How to Verify Our Credentials
We encourage every client to independently verify our credentials before signing a contract. All of our licensing and insurance information can be confirmed through the following sources:
Michigan Builder License
Verify license #128244SP through the Michigan LARA licensing portal at michigan.gov/lara. The portal shows license status, issue date, expiration date, and any disciplinary actions on record.
Insurance Certificates
Request a Certificate of Insurance (COI) directly from our office. The COI is issued by our insurance carrier and lists the policy numbers, coverage limits, and effective dates. You can also contact the insurance carrier directly to verify coverage.
BBB Accreditation
Verify our BBB rating and complaint history at bbb.org.
Trade Licenses
Plumbing, electrical, and mechanical licenses can be verified through the same LARA portal using the license numbers listed in Section 3.
Red flag: Any contractor who refuses to provide license numbers, insurance certificates, or verifiable references should not be hired — regardless of price. We provide all of this information proactively with every proposal.
6Client Protection
Our licensing and insurance exist to protect you, not just us. When you hire BrightForge, you receive:
- Recourse through the state: Michigan LARA accepts complaints against licensed builders, giving you a formal channel if a dispute cannot be resolved directly.
- Coverage if something goes wrong: Our general liability policy responds to property damage caused by our work. Workers' compensation covers injuries to our employees so you are not personally liable.
- Compliance with building codes: Licensed builders are subject to code enforcement and inspection. Unlicensed contractors can leave you with unsafe, unpermitted work.
- Continuing education standards: Licensed builders must stay current on code updates, material changes, and best practices.
- Formal warranty obligations: Our 5-year workmanship warranty is backed by a licensed business that must maintain its standing to keep operating.

- EPA Lead-Safe RRP certification for firm and individual crew leads
- W-9 form for tax reporting purposes
- Letter of good standing from our insurance carrier, if requested
